General
Several of our club members are in the process of assembling the necessary equipment to access AO-40. This is the latest and greatest AMSAT satellite, unfortunately the satellite sustained some damage shortly after it was placed on orbit. The damage affected the V-band(2m) transmitter and forced operations into the U/S(70cm/13cm) or L/S(23cm/13cm) modes.

Mark, KC4ENN, has obtained a 2.4GHz(13cm) downconverter orignally intended for use in MMDS(Microwave Multipoint Distribution System), or Wireless Cable. After modification for a 144MHz IF and constuction of an appropriate feed for an old DBS Dish AO-40 has been heard. Unfortunately our transmitter desenses the downconverter making it impossible to hear our own signal.
